Set in Milano, just near the Milan Central Station, the new Birrificio Italiano (Italian Brewery) wants to be the bridge between experimentation and traditional knowledge.
Founded in 1994, the first microbrewery in Lombardy is nowadays one of the most successful in the country due to Agostino Arioli’s technique and creativity. The restaurant and brewery, signed by DWA Design Studio evoke the tradition of an old bar, now with a touch of contemporary details, opting for red, black and grey tones.
“The different tones of the wooden chairs reflect the many shades of the beers and two big red neon chandelier show their peculiar names”, explained the Italian practice. Highlights include the warm lights, some plants and naturally the central bar, that is intentionally lower than usual, to encourage the conversation between visitors and the bartender. Because that’s where “the beer is served and its story is narrated”.
